Brushy Creek SRA is one of Iowa's largest tracts of public outdoor recreation land at 6,000 acres. The park offers picnic areas, equestrian camping, non-equestrian camping, approximately 45 miles of multi-use trails, hunting, shooting ranges and lake activities. Both equine campgrounds have electrical and non-electrical sites with modern showers and restroom facilities. The non-equestrian campgrounds have full water and sewer hook-ups. Fishing and boating is allowed at Brushy Creek SRA but swimming is allowed only in the beach area. Brushy Lake is a no-wake lake. Hunters pursue a variety of game within the park including pheasants, white tailed deer, wild turkey, quail, rabbits and squirrels.
Golf Course
Bluffs, canyons, the Des Moines River, Prairie Creek and Indian mounds makes up Dolliver. Sandstone formations called the "Copperas Beds” provide a view of an ancient river bed over 150 million years old. A narrow ravine running between rock walls was given the name "Boneyard Hollow" by early settlers when large amounts of buffalo bones were found in the canyon. Amenities include amphitheater, bird watching, boat launch ramp, cabins, camping - electric and non-electric, canoeing, cross country skiing, day-use lodge, dump station, fishing, group camp, hiking, interpretive programs, picnic shelter, playground, boating, showers, swimming, trails, water hydrants, wildflower viewing and wildlife viewing.
Fort Dodge and Webster County Trail Systems are growing as the community concentrates on increasing the connectivity of the trails. New wayfinding signs are posted on the trails along with informational kiosks being located at the 4 trailheads. These informational kiosks show a trail map of the system and educate users on the unique characteristics of each location. Trailheads can be located at Rosedales Rapids Family Aquatic City, Central Avenue Plaza in Downtown Fort Dodge, Rogers Sports Complex and Kennedy Park.

The Fort Dodge Country Club is a private golf course voted "Iowa's 18 Hole Course of the Year" twice. It features a large practice tee, an area to practice downhill, uphill, and side hill lies, four target greens surrounded by bunkers, a separate lesson tee, three chipping greens, a putting green, and two practice bunkers. Their PGA Professional has a very active teaching program for all golfers. It hosts several golf leagues and tournaments every season.
Fort Frenzy is a family entertainment center with both indoor and outdoor attractions. Outdoor attractions are open seasonally. Attractions include go-carts, bumper boats, water wars, mini golf, mini bowling, rollerskating, laser tag, spin zone, toddler area and unique arcade games.
Gypsum City OHV Park is a destination for all-terrain vehicle, dirt bike, and snowmobile riders. Currently the park is 800 acres and has 55 miles trails for atv's, off road motorcycles and side by sides units. The park includes a 15 acre, 1.5 mile motocross track, a .4 mile kids' track, a beginner/safety training area, mudding area and challenge trails. It also includes fishing ponds. Construction of a 33-site campground began in the fall of 2013. Site amenities will include water, electricity, picnic table, and grill. A men’s and women’s shower/restroom, dump station, informational kiosk and park office will also be on-site. The anticipated opening is the summer of 2015.

John F. Kennedy Memorial Park is a 400 acre multiple use recreation area for camping, picnicking, hiking, and other outdoor activities including an 18 hole Lakeside Municipal Golf Course. The 53-acre Badger Lake provides for fishing, canoeing and boating (no-gas motors). The park features a cabin, shelter house, nature center, children's forest, Veterans Memorial Park, environmental education programs, fishing docks, handicapped accessible fishing jetty, boat ramp, swimming beach, hiking trails, softball field, playground, open shelters with grills, volleyball court, bird blind viewing with feeding station, butterfly garden with model backyard, dog training area, wintertime activities and remote control airplane flying area.
Lakeside Municipal Golf course is a public 18 hole course which includes a long & straight front nine with a short & narrow back nine. The course has a driving range, clubhouse with pro shop, concessions and a deck. Multiple tournaments and special events happen at Lakeside throughout the season.
10 miles of mountain bike trails along the Des Moines River Valley in Northwest Fort Dodge. The trails are accessible near Water Trail Access 1. Go through gate near railroad tracks to access the trails.

The Oleson Park Splash Pad is an area for water play that has no standing water while the water in the system is recycled/treated to at least the same level of quality as swimming pool standards. The Oleson Park Bandshell was a Works Project Administration project which was completed in 1938 and is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.
Rosedale Rapids Family Aquatic Center is an outdoor waterpark which includes 5 slides, lazy river, wave generator and 30+ water features.
Veterans Memorial Park overlooks Badger Lake and includes memorials, artwork and natural amphlitheatre.
The Waggin Trail Dog Park at Almost Home Dog Shelter is fenced in and has agility equipment for the dogs to play on. It is open from dawn to dusk 365 days a year to anyone who has a membership! Stop in at the Almost Home Animal Shelter, next to the park, anytime between 11am-5:30pm to get your dog(s) signed up.
Willow Ridge Golf Course is a 9 hole, 2722 yard Par 37 golf course. The course starts with a beautiful elevated tee box and ends with a picturesque Par 3 hitting over a small pond and hitting on to a newly renovated greens. It hosts a variety of golf leagues. Willow Ridge Restaurant is a 170 seat restaurant and event center which is open to the public. Reservations are not required, but are recommended.
