Let's start each day drawing swirly, curvy lines and shapes and create your very own Cartoon character.  Take them on your journey into shapes made out of clay. Create more with watercolor and tempra paints. Explore the paintings of George Seurat. Imagine and wonder how you would paint one of his scenes. Bring a white t-shirt or white pair of socks for our tie-dye project. Art camp designed to spark the children's imagination through a variety of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional Art Activities. It's all at the Blanden! A unique style having tons of fun with a variety of art materials in an environment where giggles and grins happen!

Molding, casting, sculpting, painting and monoprinting — this simple project pulls all of these together into one low-relief sculpture that demonstrates the elements of texture and color. Texture is defined in clay by pressing objects in or sculpting with tools. Next, the clay is painted with watercolor and covered with papier mâché, which lifts the color as it dries, absorbing it directly into the casting.

Spend some time in the great outdoors and study the natural surroundings in Kennedy Park. Tips for working plein air will be discussed as well as compositional considerations and pastel techniques. We'll start with a quick demonstration and have plenty of time to work. Bring a light lunch and we'll take a break before we wrap things up with a group discussion. **Everyone will meet at Kennedy Park in the first parking lot off to the right before the boat ramp.

Note: Participants may bring their own supplies or may use pastels and paperprovided by the Blanden. Participants should bring a traveling easel (if one is not available, let us know-instructor & Blanden has several that can be used), drawing board (foam core is light weight and works well,) wet wipes or rags, and comfort items like chair, sunscreen, bug spray, hat or umbrella for shade.
